From time to time children may need extra support in school. If there are significant or ongoing concerns then we would refer a child to Mrs Lloyd, our Special Needs Coordinator (SENCo).

An Individual Plan may then be written for a child, detailing specific targets and support. At Martock Church of England Primary School, there is a wide range of additional support and provision available, which is delivered by trained Teaching Assistants, either individually or in small groups. Interventions may target literacy, numeracy, language development or
social and emotional development.

A child’s progress will be monitored through the IEP on a termly basis by school staff, parents and the children themselves. If concerns remain or the child has more severe and complex needs, the school may seek advice from outside agencies, such as the Educational Psychologist or the Learning Support Services.

We are also supported by regular visits from the Parent Family Support Advisor, Getset Workers and Health Visitors. For further details please see our SEN Policy and our Local Offer Information.
