Percy Jackson freeze frames

This term, our literacy learning has been based around Greek mythology and Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Our focus for this lesson was to create freeze frames around Chapter 11 - We Visit the Garden Gnome Emporium. Can you spot Medusa in some of the scenes?

Playtime fun!

Class 6 have been working on making the most of every minute of learning time. They have worked very hard this term and earnt an extra playtime. Some children had great fun with the new tyres that have been added to the playground whilst others couldn't resist the call to play football!

Gingerbread houses

We had great fun making, assembling and designing gingerbread houses. We had to work as a team and handle the gingerbread carefully when assembling! Once the final products had been judged, we got to eat them; they were yummy! Have a look at our creations.

Viking Longships

As part of their topic this term, Year 6 designed, made and evaluated Viking longships. They were all very resilient in the making process and took great pride in their work. Have a look at the pictures below to see their creations.

Kilve Celebration Assembly

Mrs Coate would like to say a massive congratulations and thank you to all of the Year 6 pupils who wrote, practiced and participated in the Kilve celebration assembly. The scripts were written by the children and it was great to hear everything that you enjoyed.

Getting creative!

We have been creating a piece of art that will be on display around Bridgwater in the week leading up to the carnival. The theme was Jubilation and we decided to put a No Outsiders twist on it. We painted rainbow bricks and then designed some graffiti. What do you think of the finished piece?

No Outsiders - King of the Sky

Our No Outsiders book this term was King of the Sky. We discussed how it would feel to come to a new country and not be able to communicate with anyone or feel like you are home. The children came up with some great ways that they would try to make someone feel welcome. They also had some brilliant discussions about inclusion, kindness and empathy. Here are some of the letters that the children write from the perspective of the character.

Enjoying the outdoors

We are amazing role models in Year 6.

This year all of the children have been given a role or responsibility that helps them contribute to school life and be a role model to the younger children. It also gives them the opportunity to show what fantastic young adults they are growing up to be.
