Science at Martock Primary School

Science is taught in year groups (Y1-Y6). Hamilton Trust is currently used as a guide for planning across both key stages. The Hamilton Trust units follow the National Curriculum and provide staff with adaptable, well-planned and sequenced sessions that encourage questioning, practical experience and build on prior knowledge and understanding. A standard planning format, which includes working scientifically objectives, will be used across all year groups.

Children receive high quality science teaching every week to allow for a greater depth of learning and practical experiences to take place. Where possible, links are made in Theme sessions. Sessions will include:

• Discussion and debate
• Prediction and evaluation
