09.07.24 Today we visited our local library in Martock. We had a wonderful time there, led by the librarian Jane who told us all about the library and how we can take books out for free! We also completed a treasure hunt and had time to look for books. At the end, Jane read us Goldilocks and the Three Crocodiles by Michael Rosen. Thank you Martock Library!
Today we harvested, washed, cooked and ate some of our delicious home grown potatoes. We have been looking after them for a couple of months now and have watched them grow and grow. It was very exciting to be able to finally get to eat them. Everyone got a chance to wash and cut up the potatoes. Then we picked some mint and chives to add to the potatoes, along with butter. The children absolutely loved them and said they were delicious!
Last week, we went our eagerly awaited trip to The Sealife Centre in Weymouth. We had a wonderful day out and visited all of the exhibits; we were even lucky enough to touch a starfish! The children we so well behaved and we had a fantastic day out.
In Science, we looked at different 'poos' from a carnivore, herbivore and omnivore. The children got to investigate the diet by looking at what could be found in the poo. (Disclaimer - no actual poo was used!)
We have grown radishes as part of our Science topic. We all harvested and tried them this afternoon - there were mixed opinions on how they tasted!!
We made traditional toys using wooden spoons.
Our parents came to do maths with us. We wowed them with our 3d shape knowledge!
We visited Haynes Motor Museum where we saw really old cars and some really fast ones!
We made axles and then attached them to our vehicles, making sure that they would turn
We looked at paintings by Jackson Pollock and made our own by printing with wheeled vehicles
We have learnt about the history of cars - we made our own wheels that roll!
Here we all are, ready for Year 2 on our first day!
